There are many characteristics to the Holy Spirit Himself, which can be found in the Scriptures in both Old & New Testaments. These characteristics are His attributes that represent Him. This is a companion article to the upcoming Functions Of The Holy Spirit teaching that will launch next week.
Attributes of the Holy Spirit
Omnipresent (He is everywhere):
Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
—Psalm 139:7-10 (KJV)
Omniscient (He knows everything):
For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man:
—Isaiah 10:13 (KJV)
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
—1 Corinthians 2:10-11 (KJV)
Omnipotent (All Powerful):
Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.
—Psalm 104:30 (KJV)
